Plum Blossom "Sumi-E" Workshop at Ikebana Flower

Nashua, NH - Ikebana Flower is offering a one-day workshop in brush painting taught by Bruce Iverson on Saturday March 24th 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Lunch on your own).

The plum blossom is seen as a symbol of winter and a harbinger of spring. The flower is long a beloved subject in the traditional painting of East Asia.

The blossoms are so popular because they are viewed as blooming most vibrantly amidst the winter snow, exuding an ethereal elegance while their fragrance is noticed to still subtly pervade the air at even the coldest times of the year.

Therefore the plum blossom came to symbolize perseverance and hope, but also beauty, purity, and the transitoriness of life.

Techniques for painting these blossoms will be taught in a step-by-step method that will guarantee your success. Come spend a quiet and relaxing Saturday with us, listening to soothing music, drinking green tea and brush painting.

No previous art experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. The cost for the whole-day workshop is $125 and includes all the materials (Brush, ink, paper, etc.) to be used.
